We had a spectacular time partying with Rie and Frank for their Japanese/Chinese wedding at Donalda Club.  Donalda Club is nestled among million dollar homes in the York Mills/Don Mills area.  It’s a very homey club with very friendly and capable staff.

The day started with a garden wedding ceremony.  Guests then enjoyed cocktails while the bride and groom had pictures taken with other guests.  Dinner started promptly at 7pm.  This wedding was out of the ordinary in that it required the MCs to speak in Japanese, Cantonese and English.  You would think that performing MC services in three languages would be hard on the guests, but it was executed well.  The key to making it work is to keep the message as succinct as possible.  This way, you don’t have to spend too much time talking.

We played a mix of english and J-Pop songs throughout the night.  Funky Monkey Babys, Q;indivi, Exile, Utada Hikaru were some examples of artists we featured.  Oh yeah, we may have sneaked in a few K-pop in there as well. =)

The evening was full of surprises.  This ranged from video messages from unexpected friends and family across the Pacific to surprise performances from guests.  Time flew way too fast at this wedding.  Pictures below…

Donalda Club Entrance

The Donalda Club has a homey feel. It’s entrance invites you to come in and relax. I felt like I was visiting an old aunt’s home.

Wedding Cake

Rie and Frank’s wedding cake sits as a mainstay at the dessert table. Luscious fruits surround the rich white chocolate heart.

Banquet room

Tables are all set and ready to go. A projector screen is seen in the background.

Head Table

The head table seats two. Frank and Rie enjoyed a perfect view of the entire room from west side of the dining room. The podium for speeches is within arms reach.

Overlooking the patio

The dining area overlooks the green and the patio area at the lower level. There’s lots of natural light coming into the room.

Wedding Ceremony outside

The Wedding Ceremony was held outside. Guests enjoyed the warm sunshine and quenched their thirst with cocktails. Classical music added a touch of elegance.

Seating Chart

Guests are greeted by this seating chart as they come in from the ceremony area outside.

This is the dance floor. We equipped it with two QSC K12s in DEEP mode for maximum bass and wireless moving heads.

The Salmon dish was exquisite. The fish was moist and tender with a hint of lemon. The steamed vegetables underneath were soft but with the right level of crunch still intact. Chopped chives are then sprinkled on the dish.

Dessert

The Dessert and Coffee table opens after dinner services came to a close.

The Macaron Tower stole the show at the dessert table.

Donalda Club

Cellphone signal is weak

Cellphone coverage is weak at Donalda Club. It’s a way for the club to secretly curb anyone from posting selfies and duck faces online.

Dance Floor

Guests take to the dance floor. We closed at 2am. whew! What a night.
